Remember elementary school art classes? Remember the thrill of discovery - of creating without restriction, just for the pure joy of it? If you would like to recapture that experience as an adult, these classes are for you. You need not be experienced. I will guide you in different and varied techniques to help you express yourself in a free and relaxed yet exciting and fulfilling atmosphere. You will be working in a real working artist's studio - mine. To begin, you will work mainly in oil sticks which are oil paint in stick form. You don't need brushes or paint thinners. I will show you many innovative techniques I have discovered on my own and I will share with you new ones as I discover them. You will begin to make your own discoveries and branch out to different media.
Note: This class is still open. I am planning another session for 2 weeks after the end of this one. I also offer private classes for 20$ per hour. Contact me at mtdietz@mac.com if you are interested.

MONOTYPES TO REVERSE-GLASS WORKSHOP
In this workshop the student will use oil sticks (oil paint in stick form) on glass to create up to 3 one-of-a-kind contact prints and then keep the painted glass as a reverse-glass painting. Up to four unique pieces of fine art will result. To create a monotype, an image is painted on a piece of glass and then a contact print is taken from the glass. In this workshop, I will show how two more monotypes can be taken from the same piece of glass after different colors and textures are added to the glass. After all the prints are made, the glass is reversed and the student has made a reverse-glass painting that can be framed for presention.
Fee $25.00 supplies included

PAINTING WITH OIL STICKS WORKSHOP
In this class the student will become familiar with a relatively recent artists’ medium - the oil stick. Oil sticks are oil paint in stick form. Enough wax is added to the oil base and pigment to give the paint enough body to be used as a direct drawing tool. Although they can be mixed with and used with regular oil paints, there is no need for brushes. Oil sticks also dry much faster than regular oil paints. I have found oil sticks to be especially versatile and I’ve discovered a number of unique ways to use them to get many different results. I’d like to pass these on. There is no experience needed.
